Ensure you work with a company that prioritizes safety and efficiency, is properly licensed, and communicates effectively with you and attends to your needs.
When should I start contacting moving companies for a free moving estimate?
If you’re not dealing with a last-minute move, try to provide moving companies with as much notice as possible, especially during the peak moving season (May–September). Six weeks is usually a reasonable amount of time. This allows you and the company to coordinate your in-person estimate, and gives you enough time to make an informed decision. Try to have your decision made at least four weeks before your moving date.
What should I expect when my moving specialist comes to give a free in-person quote?
Your moving specialist will arrive at your home to visually survey all of your items, and may look in cabinets, drawers, and under beds to accurately calculate the number and weight of items. If you are getting rid of anything (especially bulky items) before a move, make sure to make a note of that. Essentially, if you don’t plan to move it, get rid of it! Ensure that your house is organized, and that everything is visible for your specialist to accurately estimate the cost of your move. After the visual survey is complete, your moving specialist will calculate the weight, packing costs (if you choose a full-service company), and any other applicable charges related to your move.

What is an inventory?
An inventory is a detailed listing of your household items. It should also include the condition of the items at the time of the move. On moving day, your driver will inventory your shipment as it is loaded and record the condition of each visible item (such as a sofa), box or crate. Make sure to double-check the inventory to ensure it’s correct, and that nothing is missing. Note that when items are not visible to the driver (as they are securely packed in boxes), they will be marked accordingly.

Yes, we offer full packing and unpacking services to make your move as stress-free as possible. Our team will carefully pack all of your belongings using high-quality packing materials and will unpack them at your new home or office.
How do I pack or prepare my appliances for moving?
If you’re bringing large appliances, such as washers, dryers or refrigerators, ensure they’re disconnected and that washers have stabilizers installed. Your estimator can also help you to understand how these items will be moved safely. Most moving companies have practices that will ensure that your appliances are stabilized and packed safely.
How do I pack my jewelry or valuables?
If you are packing items of extraordinary value, like jewelry, money or valuable collections, make sure your moving specialist is aware of this in advance. It is recommended that you keep any irreplaceable or expensive items with you on moving day to ease stress and ensure their safety.
